Practice
tips.

- Most
important: PRACTICE.
- Practice
at least 20 minutes each
day, at least five days a week.
- Practice
to improve. That is,
work on particular areas of
difficulty.
- Play
in time. Play with CDs
or metronome, but spend part of
your time playing in time.
- Learn
songs. Whatever
styles or genres you like, learn
songs.
- Copy
like crazy. Steal
licks, chord changes, phrases,
sounds. Copy.
- Take
care of your instrument(s).
Well maintained gear is easier
to use and more fun too.
- Listen
to good music. And
listen to the different parts
being played.
- Expand
your repertoire.
Continually add to the songs you know.
- Play
with people. One of
the most fun things you can do is
make good music with people.
- Learn
some theory. It helps you with every aspect of music.
- Get
and use learning
materials: books, tab, fake books,
DVDs, web tutorials. There's so much available.
- Work
with a teacher once in a
while. Continuous lessons
aren't necessary. Take several lessons per year.
- Keep your instruments
in
tune. You'll sound better.
